"Purple Rain...er Tang, Purple Tannngggg"

WAHOOOOOOOOOO!!! Got a very very very cool Tang today from Japarto. Was a toss up from a Sailfin from Cora or this absolutely beautiful Purple Tang from Japarto...what was the biggest concern...holy *&$% the cost of the purple tang. Whew...but man is it beautiful. Japarto and I chatted, the Sailfin from Cora was $49.99...the Purple from Japarto was $129.99 do you see my dilema????????? So I say that if that fish were to go on sale then it would be going to my tank as he had been joking that I needed to take it home with me....he has had it for over 5 months and was going to put it in the display tank as it wasn't selling.... and low and behold did I get a good deal. I won't post what I paid but it WAS NOT $129.99. YAY~ Just look at that! Yay for me!

Skimmin it!

Got our "new" skimmer today, Aqua C Remora Pro....HOB. Very very cool. This should take care of the organic load. No more Cyano bacteria....ok I am also decreasing the amount of food they are fed....I don't want to lose a bunch of fish again! seems to have slowed down the "over skimming" it was doing. That is a pain in the butt until it breaks in. The other guy only had it set up for 2 months so it sat for a bit...had to re break it in. A healthier fish tank all around! I'm sure Lamont and Raymone are not impressed with the "prefilter" box taking up tank space but...OH WELL! Thats a pic of the filter hangin off the side of the tank...will upload some of the prefilter when its dark out! Too much sunlight today! The prefilter decreases the amount of bubbles sent into the tank.

Who knew that this "hobby" would be sooooo expensive??? but God is it fun!

How the hell??

So we got the skimmer and prefilter....instructions?????? NONE.....hmmmm we have tried to piece it together and no luck...........Rick searched, and then Peter emailed us again with some directions....Edele and I cleaned it out with some vinegar and water and lets set her up!!

8:45PM Set it up...the prefilter is a bit on the large size but if it cuts down on the bubbles.....its a good thing!

11:00PM all set up and running....LOTS of over skimming right now....but should slow down after the break in period

Canreef Buy, Sell and Trade

Got a wicked deal on a used skimmer today. Same as the one on the Salty one....have a Prizm on the tank now and it sucks (not in a good way) so we really had to invest in a new one....BUT got the second best thing...the skimmer was used for 2 months and the guy switched over to an "in sump" skimmer so his change is our gain! New the one downstairs cost us well over $300.00 from Ken and Linny....this one?.....with the $80.00 prefilter it was under $200.00!!!!!!!! Good deal! Hopefully it comes and I don't get ripped off. The guy seems ok though.....will wait and see money order to go out tomorrow!
